Here at Hattie Weselyk Studio, we offer excellent instruction in making metal jewelry. Whether you are a newbie with zero experience, a serious student eager to learn more, or just taking a class to rejuvenate and take a mental break from life, there is something for you!
Unlock your creativity in this beginner jewelry-making class! Learn to use essential tools while building foundational skills like cutting, filing, hammering, texturing, soldering, cold connections, and bezel setting. Each week introduces a new technique as you complete 2–3 unique projects to take home. This hands-on 6-week course is perfect for ages 16+ who are ready to explore jewelry design—tools and safety equipment are provided; just bring a notepad.

**Materials Information**
Tuition includes brass, copper, nickel silver, and select sterling silver wire. Nickel silver has a beautiful appearance very similar to sterling and will be used for many class projects. Sterling silver will always be provided for ear hooks to accommodate those who may be sensitive to nickel.
Purchasing sterling silver sheet is completely optional and is not required for the class. Students who would like to create projects in sterling may purchase a 3" × 3", 24-gauge dead-soft sterling silver sheet during the first two weeks of the class session. We will provide ordering information and assistance in class. Hattie will supply sterling silver wire and bezel wire as needed.
Fall I Session
September 15 - October 20, 2026
Designed for returning students as well as those with prior metalsmithing experience, this class is ideal for anyone who is familiar with the essential tools and techniques but is ready to build greater confidence at the bench. Through a series of guided weekly projects, students will strengthen their skills in sawing, soldering, forming, texturing, and stone setting while creating unique finished pieces in a supportive, encouraging, and creative studio environment.

Take your metalsmithing to the next level in this faster-paced Level III course designed for experienced students who are confident at the bench and ready for more advanced techniques. Students will continue refining their soldering, sawing, forming, and stone setting skills while exploring projects that encourage greater precision, creativity, and independence. Techniques may include hinges, tube settings, and cabochon setting.
This 6-week class is ideal for students ready to work more independently while developing their own artistic style and direction in a supportive studio environment.
Prerequisite: Level II or instructor approval.

Fall I Session
September 16 - October 21, 2026
Discover the exciting art of lost wax casting in this immersive 6-week jewelry course designed for all experience levels. Students will carve and create two original jewelry designs using jeweler’s wax while learning the complete casting process from start to finish. Techniques covered include wax carving, spruing, investing, and centrifugal torch casting in either bronze or sterling silver.
By the end of the session, you’ll leave with beautifully finished cast pieces and a deeper understanding of this ancient and captivating metalsmithing process. Class fee includes wax, investing materials, kiln and torch use. Bronze and sterling silver costs are additional and based on the final weight of each piece.

This Open Studio is available to returning students who are ready to do their projects and need Hattie's guidance. We encourage independent work and encourage you to bring along your project materials. Hattie will visit each student periodically. The studio is fully equipped; students can access all tools and equipment.
Prerequisite: Must have completed a six-week session of Adult Metal Jewelry to attend.
Please reserve your spot 24 hours in advance. Late/Last-minute reservations are subject to cancellation. Offered twice monthly.

The jewelry studio and restroom are on the second floor. Students must ascend a flight of stairs to access them. We are not wheelchair accessible.

Join Hattie in her metal jewelry studio and make your own silver soldered ring using traditional metalsmith techniques such as design stamping, sawing and soldering. Add patina for contrast or polish for shine. Match your rings or make them different, the choice is yours!
No experience necessary.
Must be 21 years of age.
