Here at Hattie Weselyk Studio, we offer excellent instruction in making metal jewelry. Whether you are a newbie with zero experience, a serious student eager to learn more, or just taking a class to rejuvenate and take a mental break from life, there is something for you!
We recommend entering Level 2 once you have completed a Level 1 class, are comfortable and confident in basic soldering, and are familiar with how to use all of the essential tools. Most students take Level 1 twice. Level 2 is faster-paced, and projects often take multiple classes to complete.
This class is for the beginner student. Students will learn how to use essential jewelry-making tools to create their designs. They will also cover all essential metal jewelry-making techniques, including cutting metal, filing, hammering, cold connections, textures, soldering, and beginner bezel settings. Each week, a new project will be explored using a new technique. Students are encouraged to attend all classes, as this is an info-packed class. Please bring a notepad.

This is for the student with experience using all essential jewelry bench tools and techniques and is ready for more challenging projects. This Intermediate metalsmithing class will incorporate techniques such as hinges, tube setting, cabochon, and basic prong setting projects. Many students have been coming to this class for years, and many things have been covered, including crushed stone inlay, small metal sculptures, flush setting, simple prong setting of cabochons, and hollow forms. We cannot cover all these techniques in 6 weeks, but you will advance your skill set. Though we incorporate stones in many projects, we do not always incorporate stones into our projects. Many students continue year-round in this class and enjoy making fun pieces they are proud of.
